Imaginary Concert

I had tickets to see Sleater-Kinney at the Great American Music Hall in SF on May 3. But as luck would have it, I had to go to Reston, VA for work. I've seen them about 6 times, and never missed a show, but I guess my luck finally gave out.

I'm on another business trip, this time in Kansas City, KS. I finally have a few hours to spend making peace with having missed this tour, and what I know was a killer show. So I'm going to experience the show as best I can over the next couple hours in my hotel room, with nothing but my laptop and my imagination...

First stop is sleater-kinney.net, a fan site with forums where other devoted fans have poured out their devotion, and shared all their thoughts and experiences related to the band. Found the set lists from both shows. Here is the thread with everybody's comments from both SF shows.

Then spent about an hour reading the threads, and feeling sick because the show was awesome and I missed it. They played Good Things!!! which I have only seen 1 time, and then Corin was sharing vocals with the singer from The Gossip (Not that it wasn't an awesome song & show, but I'd like to see it with pure Corin vox). Then look for pictures, which is agonizing because of slow bandwidth in this hotel...

Finally, finish it off with some video from SK's web site. They have a video of Let's Call It Love from the SF shows. The quality is not so good, but you can feel the intensity crackling off the stage.

So, I feel like I at least paid homage to the idea of seeing a great SK show, FWIW. I feel sorry for anyone reading this post, but I probably don't have to worry too much about that.

BTW I've been reading an amazing blog called Tequila Mockingbird which has sort of inspired me to re-activate girlbandgeek. Anyway, time for bed!!!
